In lieu of being told what to think, the artist challenges the audience to react, interpret and feel for themselves. Much of Gm Grant's current work is based on the concept of “The Patterning Instinct;” the idea that humans will always work to supply a story (a pattern), even if the elements might be purposefully incongruous (or secretly not). This approach places you, the viewer, in partnership with the artist, engaged in a mutual search for meaning and connection.
